Dr. Nicolas Zabler will present:
Treatment of epilepsy using focal neurostimulation: effects on the Body and Brain
The IMAGINE-STIM project brings together, among its partners, the team led by Prof. Dr. Andreas Schulze-Bonhage at the Freiburg Epilepsy Center, University Medical Center Freiburg.
Nicolas Zabler is a Research Associate within this team, and the aim of his work is to understand how innovative technologies can improve the diagnosis and treatment of epilepsy. His team is investigating the short- and long-term effects of EASEE (Epicranial Application of Stimulation Electrodes for Epilepsy), an innovative focal cortical neurostimulation system.
The device is being developed by PRECISIS, a partner in the IMAGINE-STIM project. It is designed for people with focal epilepsy whose seizures cannot be controlled with medication.
In this presentation, Nicolas Zabler will explain how EASEE works and share preliminary findings from the IMAGINE-STIM project on how stimulation affects brain networks. He will also present his own research on how the body responds to stimulation, including its effects on the heart.
The presentation will be given in German, with translation of the text into French.
Dr. Vera Dinkelacker, coordinator of the IMAGINE-STIM project, will be available to answer questions in French and in English.
